“Its been two years
since I completed Narconon program!”
Recently Narconon Bavaria had a visit of their graduate Matthias. He came to the center 2 years after his completion.
When Matthias came to Narconon, in the first place, he was into drugs and alcohol for about 10 years and started at a very early age using it. He started as many others with Cannabis, then went into chemical drugs and ended up with cocaine and daily drinking.
Matthias, graduate of Narconon Bavaria
Interview:
Q: You have completed your Narconon Program in 2007. How has your life changed since then?
A: Today I am much more in life then ever. I think more about my life and do things with more awareness. I concentrate on the here and now and work actively towards my future. I was very careless about everything before the program and did not have any real achievements. I’m in general doing much better today.
Q: What have been your biggest achievements so far?
A: I rehabilitated my sense of responsibility. I care for people around me and take their needs more serious. And I’m much less getting sick.
In the past I have formulated goals but nearly never reached them. Many things that I was not willing or able to confront I always moved into "tomorrow, tomorrow", then I will do it.
I daydreamed through my days. Today my thoughts are much more realistic and I have reached already many of my goals. I have a good job and I stand on my own feed. I proved a lot to myself.
I take responsibility for my own life and also for my environment.
Q: How did your life look like before the Narconon Program?
A: Colourful with flowers all over...hahah (laughs)
No, but to be serious my life was really chaotic, without any coordination and very irresponsible.
I did not care for anything else but how to get new drugs and more drugs. That was all I cared about and I had no sense of responsibility or duty in life.
Q: What meaning had Narconon to you?
A: Well, in the beginning it felt like just a place where I could go to be caught and not fall deeper. But very soon it became like a family to me. After 4 days in the center I felt very much like home and I did find friends there. Today can look further and predict the consequences of my actions and do feel and take responsibility for my actions.
Q: How did you experience your time on the Narconon Program? Was it easy?
A: Today and with quite some distance looking back I can say it was easy.
It was a time full of new experiences and with the right attitude that I think I had it was actually easy even if it sometimes felt hard to do so.
Matthias at the interview
I have made already the decision that I need to change my life and therefore I knew why and for what I’m doing the program. I think this is important to be able to succeed.
Of course I had my ups and downs on the program. It had to do a lot with the past. I realized what mistakes have I made and my own cause in past situations but I also became able to put my view into the future. Before that I made a mistake, got angry on myself or felt ashamed, and because of that made more mistakes...and then failed and needed drugs to be happy again and don’t feel it. Due to the Narconon program I have started to understand myself and my patterns and so I’m able to correct it. It gave me the tools to fix things in Life.
Q: There are many people out there having the same problems like you had. What is your suggestion to them?
A: Of course I would tell them to go to Narconon and do the program. I was able to find out for myself how I ran into drugs and what are my reasons behind it. It is not a solution to go into a hospital and get filled up with pills or take substitution drugs. At the point where I started to think about changing my life and that I would need help for that, I searched and found the Narconon program on the internet.
